One (2010)
Andrei Roiter
6 January till 11 April 2010: One - Andrei Roiter at the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch
One presents 21 recent paintings by the Russian artist Andrei Roiter (Moscow, 1960; currently living in Amsterdam and New York). The visual motifs he uses in One consist of decaying fragments of buildings. The rendering of these spatial volumes as chunks of debris, apparently suspended in the air, gives them the character of abstract memories. Roiter's enigmatic images are both autonomous and connected with one another. The formal correspondence, in terms of content and form, creates a coherent series. One is all. All is one. . With the exhibition comes a publication "One" with an essay by Elly Stegeman. Ps. See this link for one of the objects featured by Andrei. |
